Feature: Party at the Pavilion

COVINGTON, LA, - The St. Peter School’s annual Party at the Pavillion brought in hundreds of patrons this past weekend. Not only did the occasion raise money for the school, but it also provided a night of entertainment, community, and celebration.

Held on the school’s campus, at the pavillion, the event was festive and abundant, featuring live music, gourmet food trucks and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit St. Peter School’s educational experiences and extracurricular programs while also continuing the school’s legacy of serving the Covington community.

The event began at 6 p.m., starting with a welcoming reception where guests enjoyed complimentary drinks while mingling under the Pavillion’s lights. The evening was highlighted by a live performance from local band, Groove Train, who had the crowd dancing with their unique blend of funk, rock, and jazz. For a full hour, the band performed for a lively audience, making the Pavillion a tremendous setting for a night of enjoyment and festivities.

Food enthusiasts were treated to an array of delicious offerings from popular local food trucks such as King Case Sno-Balls, Cajun Tacos, and Big Easy BBQ. For guests seeking a more lavish option, the VIP experience included exclusive catering with curated sample menu items and craft cocktails by several of Covington’s finest restaurants.

In addition to the wonderful food and live entertainment, a silent auction featuring donated items from local businesses was an added highlight. Guests were able to bid on a variety of items including a weekend stay at a local resort, art pieces from local artists, and gift cards to prominent shops and restaurants within Covington. Proceeds from the auction alone are projected to top $10K, which is made possible by the generosity of the Covington community.

The event organizers (the school’s parent volunteers and staff) were essential for such a successful event. Planning for the event began roughly five months ago with volunteers working to secure donations and coordinate the auction as well as all the details of the evening. All of their planning paid off quite nicely as evidenced by the event attendees throughout the night.

“Every year this event gets better and better,’ said Sarah Richard, a St. Peter parent and long-term attendee. “It is a fun event for friends and family but more importantly, it supports the school. I love that the atmosphere is so warm and inviting and you can feel how invested the St. Peter community is.”

The pride, community and school spirit in the air that night as families, alumni, and community members joined in supporting the school was undeniable. Everyone seemed to be enjoying mingling with other attendees in a laid-back and enjoyable environment while knowing they were doing good.

“The Party at the Pavillion is one of our favorite events,” said St. Peter alum, Allie Garrison. “I was just blown away with how much the school has expanded and I thought it was really amazing that the community came out to support such a great event.”

At the end of the event, everyone seemed to go home very satisfied and many people were commenting on how nice the evening was. Principal Kraus seemed to feel the same way as he thanked everyone for supporting the school through this event.

“Events like this are so important to us as they enable us to continue providing the level of service that our students need and deserve,” said principal. “We appreciate everyone that came out tonight and we also genuinely appreciate all the individuals and businesses who donated raffle items to help with our fundraising event.”

St. Peter School looks forward to providing service to the community, and having many more opportunities to provide educational opportunities for their students and a sense of community for their community members.
